IPEST ASIA Scientific Meeting: Effects of Spiritual Support in Patient Cure, Pain Tolerance, and Immunity

IPEST ASIA organized a series of monthly webinars titled “Scientific Meeting.” This initiative was designed to serve as a platform for knowledge exchange and the development of scientific discourse among students and educational and research enthusiasts.

On September 21, 2024, the Scientific Meeting session was held in collaboration with the Sulapa Institute, featuring a highly relevant topic: “Effects of Spiritual Support in Patient Cure, Pain Tolerance, and Immunity.” The event featured a distinguished speaker, Dr. Osama Algibali, a medical expert from Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The session was moderated by Purnamasari from Sulapa Institute and commenced promptly at 1:00 PM WIB.

The main objective of this webinar was to provide in-depth insights into the impact of spiritual support on patient recovery, pain tolerance, and immune enhancement. This topic garnered attention as more studies have shown that non-physical aspects of medical care can play a significant role in the healing process. Spiritual support, which includes religious practices, meditation, and empathetic social interactions, often helps patients feel more relaxed and optimistic, which in turn can reduce stress and accelerate recovery. Research indicates that patients who receive spiritual support tend to have better pain endurance and improved immune function due to the positive effects on their mental state.

This approach aligns with the principles of holistic care, viewing health as an integration of physical, mental, and spiritual aspects. By gaining further understanding of the relationship between spiritual support and health, participants, who are mostly students and education and research enthusiasts, are expected to enrich their perspectives in holistic health. They can explore the application of these strategies in various contexts, whether in academic research or everyday medical practice.

Participants gained a broader understanding of integrative approaches to patient care that not only focus on medical aspects but also encompass emotional and spiritual support. This opens avenues for more comprehensive discussions and the development of more humane care models. Additionally, this event strengthened the academic network among participants and facilitated future cross-disciplinary collaborations.

With events like the Scientific Meeting webinar, IPEST ASIA and Sulapa Institute are committed to continuing to provide beneficial, inspiring, and progressive knowledge-sharing platforms in the field of education and research.
