Purnamasari is a dedicated researcher with a Master’s in International Development Studies from the University of Birmingham, UK, funded by the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP). She holds a Bachelor's in Political Science, focusing on International Relations, from Hasanuddin University. She has extensive experience in Indonesian ministries, focusing on policies related to human development, economics, and socio-cultural issues, and collaborates with NGOs and international organizations on rural development, climate change, and sustainable agriculture projects. Recently, she served as a Research Collaborator for the Chronic Poverty Advisory Network (CPAN) and the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), working on Climate-Smart Agriculture in Indonesia. She was an Expert in Synchronization of Village Institutional Management at the Ministry of Human Development and Cultural Affairs, where she coordinated the P3PD program and developed national strategies. Purnamasari also worked on the UN Food Summit Knowledge Transfer Project with the Sustainable Agricultural Systems & Engineering (SASE) Laboratory at Westlake University, conducted public policy evaluations for the Ministry of Home Affairs, and facilitated investment strategies for the Ministry of Investment. Additionally, she designed programs and strategic plans for the National Priority Program in the 2020-2024 RPJMN at the Ministry of Human Development and Cultural Affairs.

Nurul Sajidah Rahman holds Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from International Relations Departement, Hasanuddin University, supported by Sobat Bumi Scholarship from Pertamina Foundation. She is one of the founder Sobat Bumi Indonesia, a non-profit organization that actived in environmental sectors. She served as a Sulawesi Regional Coordinator and member of National Advisory Council. In advance, she contributed in CSR Programs of PT. Pertamina (Persero) Region VII in Makassar. She actived in community empowerment program in Makassar and Jakarta, specially in environmental and educational projects. Currently lived in Jakarta, Nurul works as a Protocol of Minister in Public Relations Departement, Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency. Nurul is dedicated public relations specialist with over 7 years of experiences. Provided good communications, skilled at organizing events and master of ceremony. Nurul earns Public Speaker Certification from John Rober Powers and Three Speakers. She handled over 100 President of the Republic of Indonesia’s events as a protocol and master of ceremony. In addition, she took part in Reforma Agraria Summit 2022 in Wakatobi-Southeast Sulawesi, 2023 in Karimun-Kepulauan Riau and 2024 in Denpasar-Bali. Reforma Agraria is one of The National Strategic Program, its focused on strengthening of land rights in coastal areas, acceleration of land redistribution and release of forest areas, resolving of transmigration land problems, and settlement of disputes and conflicts in land assets.

Fadhilah Trya Wulandari

Fadhilah Trya Wulandari received a Bachelor of Politics in International Relations from Hasanuddin University with a focus on international law and human rights. She did research about Women in Aquaculture and Jakarta Coastal Defense Strategy as part of her Masters at International Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam, majoring in Human Rights, Gender, and Conflict: Social Justice Perspective. Hence, she adds Gender, Environment, and Development, particularly on women living in the coastal area to her research repertoire. Fadhilah has also worked as a Project Officer in a research-based project on marine conservation in South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, and West Papua (2019). In addition, she is currently developing #GakPakePlastik (a non-single-use plastic movement) with the youth community in South Sulawesi as part of her passion for driving impact from grassroots. Before devoting her work to The Australia-Indonesia Centre since 2019, Fadhilah served as a Junior Research Fellow at the Sustainable Development Goals Center and Center of Excellence for Interdisciplinary and Sustainability Science at Hasanuddin University, Makassar.

Dissa Julia Paputungan

Co-founder & Senior Researcher | Democratic Governance and Civil Society

Dissa Julia Paputungan received her M.A. in Political Science: Democratic Governance and Civil Society from Osnabrück University. From 2016 to 2018, she was a scholarship holder of the DAAD Helmut Schmidt Program. Her research interests include civic and religious education, public policy, and civil society organizations. She is currently a PhD student in Global and Area Studies at Humboldt University of Berlin, where she is also part of the research group SIDIT (Secularity, Islam, and Democracy in Indonesia and Turkey). Her PhD research is funded by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation from 2020 to 2023. Dissa is based in Germany, where she works as a project staff in an association that is simultaneously an active educational organization: Eleganz Bildungsplattform e.V. The association focuses on education, integration, youth, and social affairs and is recognized as an independent youth welfare association. Additionally, she is a board member of the German Association for Asian Studies.

Syahrul Rauf is a dedicated professional with a diverse background in International Relations, political economy, and environmental research. He holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from Hasanuddin University, Indonesia, and completed a Political Economy Course on Ecology Program at Dallas College in Capetown, South Africa. His career spans roles in research, program collaboration, and legal aid, reflecting a strong commitment to addressing social, environmental, and political issues. He’s recent work includes collaborating on the Sister City Program between Watch Indonesia Berlin and Walhi National Executive in Jakarta. Where he conducted research on NGOs and facilitated main issues for the cities of Jakarta and Berlin in human rights, environmental rights, participatory democracy, and the right to the city. His experience also extends to the internship, has interned and researched youth popular culture for UNIQLO Indonesia, The Iziko Museum, and Botanical Garden in Capetown. In addition, he served as a research assistant for a study on women's terrorism and extremism in Indonesia, a project led by Monash University and the Indonesian Ministry of Defence. Syahrul has made significant contributions as a staff paralegal at The Legal Aid Institute in Makassar and as a disability paralegal with the Indonesian Diffability Movement for Equality. His skills in coordination, research, and advocacy have been honed through various roles, including his time as a field explorer for NaturEvolution France and as a logistic researcher for the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia.

Amdya Hisyam is a social researcher specializing in migration issues and gender-based violence, currently based in Singapore. She holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from Istanbul Bilgi University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Hasanuddin University. Her academic excellence was recognized with the 2215 TÜBİTAK Graduate Scholarship. Amdya has a diverse professional background, including her role as a Department Coordinator in the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) department at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia and her position as a Project Management Coordinator at Hasanuddin University. Her expertise in the Türkiye region is further demonstrated through her contributions to book chapters and co-editing projects. In addition to her professional work, Amdya is deeply committed to community service and volunteering. She has actively participated in community events within the KAUST Community and has been involved in initiatives to support displaced individuals from Syria through Small Projects Istanbul. She also contributes to the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped.

Ryan holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Management. Currently living and based in Jakarta, he leverages his expertise as a lecturer and part-time consultant, contributing to both academic and practical fields. He has extensive work experience, including serving as an HR Business Partner (HRBP) in an Indian flag company. Ryan's academic interests are deeply rooted in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). He focuses on HR development, organizational behavior, and worker well-being, along with an emerging interest in tourism. His dedication to these areas is evident in his commitment to advancing knowledge and practices that enhance organizational and worker dynamics. Additionally, Ryan is highly active in networking across organizations, community development, and fostering government partnerships, underscoring his dedication to making a positive impact both locally and globally. On a personal note, Ryan enjoys traveling, hiking, and is an avid football fan. These interests complement his professional life, providing him with a well-rounded perspective and a balanced lifestyle. Ryan's passion for exploration and sports enriches his teaching and consulting, enabling him to connect with a diverse range of people and experiences.

A dedicated researcher delving into the complex intersections of music, religion, and development. With a passion for unraveling the intricate tapestry that weaves these elements together, his work sheds light on the profound connections between these seemingly disparate fields. Through his research, he aims to explore how music, religion, and development influence and shape various aspects of society, offering valuable insights into the cultural fabric of our world. In addition to their exploration of music, religion, and development, is also deeply interested in the impact of video games on society. his enthusiasm for understanding how video games contribute to shaping identity and influencing social dynamics is evident in his research pursuits. By examining the role of video games in modern society, they seek to uncover the ways in which this form of entertainment can both reflect and impact cultural norms and values. A researcher passionate about both the profound influence of music, religion, and development, as well as the evolving impact of video games on society while bringing a unique perspective to the academic discourse. Interdisciplinary approach allows them to draw connections between seemingly unrelated fields, offering fresh insights and perspectives to their research. Through his work and research, he strive to deepen our understanding of the complex tapestry that shapes our world, enriching scholarly conversations and broadening horizons in the process.

Mutmainna Syam

Co-founder & International Collaboration Lead | Political Education and Religion

Mutmainna Syam earned her M.A. in International Relations from Gazi University in Turkey and is currently pursuing a PhD in Global and Area Studies at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. Her research interests include democracy, civic and political education, democratic education, the interplay of religion and politics, secularism, and interfaith and minority discourse. From 2020 to 2024, she worked as a Research Assistant on the Secularity, Islam, and Democracy in Indonesia and Turkey (SIDIT) project at Humboldt University. She also collaborates on Democracy and Interfaith Initiatives funded by the Berlin Center for Global Engagement, part of the Berlin University Alliance. In 2021, she became a fellow of the APSA (American Political Science Association) Asia Pacific and received the APSA Asia Research Grant. In 2024, she received the Elsa-Neumann Scholarship.

Muhammad Ulil Ahsan

Muhammad Ulil Ahsan is a food enthusiast with more than a decade of professional experience in research, advocacy & campaign, community development, project management, and multi-stakeholder facilitation processes and learning. His topics of interest are sustainability and innovation, food systems development and related issues across the rural-urban continuum. He holds bachelor in Food Science and Technology at Mercu Buana University in Yogyakarta and Master of Science in Development and Rural Innovation at Wageningen University in The Netherlands. He has working experience in People’s Coalition for Food Sovereingnty (KRKP), Centre of Excellence for Interdisciplinary and Sustainability Sciences (CEISS) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Centre at Universitas Hasanuddin, and Rikolto in Indonesia. Currently, he is working as National Program Coordinator for Good Food for Cities (Food Smart Cities) Programme at Rikolto in Indonesia, an international NGO working in 17 countries worldwide that focuses on changing the recipe of global food systems towards more inclusive, healthy, and sustainable.
